Guardian of the Threshold

This piece came from a place of deep contrast, power and stillness, darkness and light, seen and unseen. I wanted to create a lion that felt like more than just an animal, but a symbol: of strength, balance, and the mystery that lives between worlds. The split-colored mane and mismatched eyes represent duality: the wild and the wise, the physical and the spiritual, the fierce and the compassionate.

There’s an energy in this lion that feels protective, like a sentinel standing at the edge of the known. I painted him to evoke that moment when you lock eyes with something ancient and unshakable, and you’re reminded of your own inner power. This is a portrait of presence, bold, quiet, and unyielding.
